The goal means Lincoln only need a 1-0 win in next Wednesday’s return leg to set up a mouthwatering ‘Battle of Britain tie’ against Celtic.

Tallinn had opened the scoring in the 34st minute when Rauno Alliku slotted home from six yards.

The home side doubled their lead in the 48th minute when Sappinen scuffed his finish past Lincoln keeper Raul Navas.

The Lincoln keeper was a busy man on the night, making a string of saves to keep the Estonians at bay.

But Chipolina’s goal gives The Imps a great chance of progressing to the next qualifying round and an historic tie against Celtic.
