A spokesperson for the RGP told the Olive Press staff had acted according to the bank’s safety procedures.

“We are looking into the letter, but it was not a bomb threat,” he said.

“But the letter was perceived by staff to be threatening.”

Staff from a second nearby Natwest building are believed to have taken part in a fire drill at the same time.

The RGP were unable to confirm who sent the letter, or what was contained in it.
