SOME 3,300 signatures opposing a La Linea bullfight have been collected within 24 hours.
Four representatives of the Campo de Gibraltar anti-bullfighting movement went to the City Hall of La Linea to hand over 1,000 of the signatures to demonstrate the far-reaching opposition to the ‘act of animal cruelty.’
The fight, which is due to take place at La Linea’s bullring on July 22, has been opposed by locals as well as people from all over Europe and in countries as far away as Taiwan and Brazil.
“We are opposed to the bullfight as we consider it to be an example of extreme animal cruelty. Considering how fast the petition has taken off we can see we are not the only ones that share this belief,” Linda Zemmler, a member of the movement, told the Olive Press.
“Together we can bring awareness to as many people as possible,” continued Linda, who works in Gibraltar as a product owner.
The petition has now garnered over 4,000 signatures. You can sign it here.
