THE benefits of blockchain and digital currencies such as Bitcoin have been discussed at a recent conference.

The Sunborn played host to the d10e event, where experts from Gibraltar and further afield gathered to discuss how the new innovation could be beneficial for cybersecurity.

The four-day conference was well attended and of particular interest was a speech given by Joey Garcia, Partner at Isolas, on the potential of Gibraltar as a hub for blockchain.

His speech came in the wake of a much anticipated announcement by the government that distributed ledger technology, including blockchain, will be regulated from January 1.

The conference concluded with Initial Coin Offering pitches, whereby innovators presented their upcoming ICOs to potential investors.

An incredible £570 million has been raised by ICOs at previous d10e conferences.
