VINTAGE car enthusiasts are celebrating after it was announced that Gibraltar is set to host a leading global motoring festival in 2018.

Next year’s International Federation of Classic Vehicles (FIVA) will take place here after a unanimous decision at the 2017 Annual General Assembly in Bucharest.

“This is an honour for Gibraltar as it became a full member just a short three years ago,” a spokesman told the press.

“The holding of the General Assembly in Gibraltar means that 300 plus country representatives with their spouses will be able to sample our warm hospitality.

“I am sure next year the delegates will leave with a good impression of Gibraltar, we may be a small country but we have a big heart,” the spokesman said.

While in Romania, the Gibraltarian representatives enjoyed the Tiriac Collection, one of the most impressive compilations of classic vehicles on the planet and had dinner at the Romanian Parliament.
