SCHOOL children linked arms in a powerful protest against domestic violence.
The students from three schools created a heart shape to mark ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women’.
The symbolic gesture at Victoria Stadium was a culmination of several weeks work at Bayside School, Westside School and Gibraltar College.
The students also created art work aimed at ensuring young Gibraltarians reject domestic violence in its every form.
Minister of Equality, Samantha Sacramento was delighted at the commitment shown by the students.
“Our primary objectives are prevention through education, by teaching that such behaviour is unacceptable and by empowering individuals from an early age to stand up to abuse,” she said.
“It is important to continue to raise awareness about the issue and it is important to work collectively to end all forms of violence, particularly against girls and women.”
