GAMBLING technology provider Playtech has opened a new office in the World Trade Centre in a bid to expand its work on the Rock.

COO Shimon Akad said the business move made sense as Playtech’s largest clients held core operations in Gibraltar.

Akad also said the office bridged services between the territory and its HQ in London.

“We found the ability to grow here,” he said.

“Theres also a large opportunity here because there’s a lot of talent in Gibraltar.”

At present, Akad says their Gibraltar operations have grown to 150 staff members, and they are satisfied with the results so far.

However, he does acknowledge that the company will only grow if they recruit ‘the next generation of IT experts’ stressing graduate programmes to develop trainees out of school.
