APPROVAL has been granted to Gibraltarian residents to purchase over one hundred and fifty distinctive ex-Ministry of Defence houses.

The properties, all in the South District, are available to those who have been resident in Gibraltar for at least ten years.

The government have pledged to carry out necessary infrastructure works, including installing an electricity supply, plumbing and internet access in the buildings.

The Chief Minister was excited to announce that the properties would finally be available to the public in a much sought after location.

“These are the crown jewels of Ministry of Defence property in Gibraltar,” he said.

“I am delighted that these properties will finally be made available to Gibraltar residents, at what is a very fair price for property of this size and quality.”

Those looking to purchase one of the houses will have to submit an application by February 23, although the properties will first be used to provide accommodation to athletes competing in the Island Games in July 2019.

Successful tenderers will then be able to move into their new homes from August 2019.

Information, including detailed plans of the properties can be found online at www.gibmodsales.gi.

New homes for the Ministry of Defence are set to be constructed at Four Corners as in the terms of The Lands Agreement.
