THE UK will be even easier to get to with a new route between Gatwick and Gibraltar starting May 28.

Just in time for the summer season, the British Airways route will operate daily, except Tuesdays.

Running until September 29, the route will see more than 2,000 additional seats offered weekly.

This comes after an announcement of 11 additional weekly flights from Heathrow during the summer.

Minister for Tourism and Commercial Aviation, Gilbert Licudi, said: “This is fantastic news for Gibraltar, with much needed capacity left behind by Monarch Airlines being filled up by British Airways.

“London Gatwick is Gibraltar’s busiest route and these additional weekly services highlight the demand on this route.”

He added: “This shows British Airways confidence in the Gibraltar market. In addition, with easyJet and other charter services from this will undoubtedly boost the tourism industry.”
