A GIBRALTAR-BASED maritime surveyor has been honoured by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as part of their 150th anniversary celebrations.

Captain Ed Geary, who has inspected vessels in ports in Gibraltar and Mallorca, was honoured for establishing ‘Fair Market Value’ principles for ships and marine property alike.

The principles have allowed surveyors to value maritime property by consulting standardised industry rules which can act as a guide on pricing.

Geary’s work has allowed marina facilities, antique and classic sailing and motor yachts, diving chambers, naval vessels, cruise ships, large oil tankers and commercial vessels to be accurately valued.
